Dr. Vrushali Deshpande completed her PhD from Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Gujarat. She carried out her postdoctoral research at Department of Biochemistry with the guidance of Prof. Utpal Tatu, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. After completing her postdoctoral research, she joined Thrombosis Research Institute in 2012 as a Research Scientist. She was the Principal Investigator in the Young Scientist SERB/DST project in the year (2013 - 2016).  Dr. Deshpande joined GROW Laboratory at Narayana Nethralaya, Bangalore in 2018 as a Proteomics Scientist and intends to work on screening biomarkers for corneal and retinal diseases.

Research Interests:

1. Proteomic profiling of tears and stromal tissue post SMILE and LASIK surgery

2. Understanding the mechanism of corneal wound healing post injury and elucidating the role of molecular biomarker in diagnosis, characterization and therapeutic intervention.

3. Understanding the role of Cathepsins in corneal fibrosis
